In addition to my teaching, consulting/coaching and research, I enjoy
decorating my house, scuba diving, art, mysteries, cooking, plays, museums, biking and traveling. When I travel I enjoy learning about other cultures, eating new foods, and buying art and crafts. I am particularly drawn to textiles from around the world. In addition to scholarly journals, I subscribe to Ornament, FiberArts, Art News, and American Craft.
I have been scuba diving for the last 10 years and have visited underwater spots in Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Hawaii, Turkey, Panama, California and Florida. Recently I have experienced night diving and am amazed at how many underwater creatures are out and about late at night.
I love the creative arts. I view these as expressions of the human spirit and ways to uplift society.

Textiles, pottery, carvings and other artifacts we've collected from around the world decorate our California Spanish revival house, built in 1928 in Belmont Shores.
